Our annual Lenten Diaper Drive for Bundles of Hope will be held from Ash Wednesday, February 17 through Easter Sunday, April 4. Help us sponsor 50 babies for a year. The cost is $120 to sponsor one baby for a year, but ALL donations make a difference. Please make checks payable to Bundles of Hope. You can also give directly on their website with a one-time donation or become a monthly sponsor. For questions or additional information, contact Allyson Lewis at firstname.lastname@example.org. We all are distressed at the damage and loss the tornado brought to Fultondale recently. As the body of Christ, we want to respond in the ways that are most needed. Here are some ways you can help:
FOOD DRIVE THIS SUNDAY – February 7
We will be collecting non-perishable food items this Sunday for the United Methodist Church food bank. If you wish to donate food items, please bring them to church with you on Sunday or drop them off in the FLC lobby (church office) this week.
If you wish to donate food items directly, you may also take them to the United Methodist Church food bank at Fultondale UMC located at 1900 Stouts Rd, Fultondale, AL 35068.
From the City of Fultondale:
We are officially stocked with water. We do not need any water at this time. We do need flashlights, first aid supplies (Tylenol, Advil, Pepto, etc). We need jackets and sheets as well. NOTE: We are also full for clothes right now. Please do not send any more clothes at this time !! Gift cards need to be plain Visa cards.
Electronic donations need to be paid through the United Way link. Volunteers also need to register there. That is how we will be organizing and utilizing our help. Click this link for United Way: https://uwca.givepulse.com/event/220514
Gift Cards/Financial Donations:
If you want to help with gift cards, or financial donations, Gardendale UMC’s pastor Steve Baccus sent me this:
If you want to send gift cards, that would be amazing. Mail them to GMVUMC, 805 Crest Drive, Gardendale, 35071 that would be good. Or if you want to give financially through designated giving, go through the Gardendale UMC church website at gmvumc.org, they will get it to where it needs to go.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The ongoing tensions in our country have grabbed our attention this week. In times of crisis as at all times, God calls the church to prayer and fasting. God told Solomon that if his people would humble themselves and pray God would hear from heaven and heal their land. Our land is not and has never been Israel. However, the body of Christ certainly are the people of God.
Therefore, I want to invite you to join us either live streaming (on Facebook) or in-person* in our worship space at the gym for a time of fasting, repentance, and prayer. We will gather Monday, January 18 at 12:10 pm and adjourn by 12:45 pm.
* registration required for in-person service. Click HERE to register.
Please join us if possible and if not, please remember to pray for our country and our churches.
We have resumed our in-person worship services on Sunday mornings at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. These services are being held in our Gym. Due to COVID-19, we are requiring advanced registration to attend these services. To register for these services, please click on the registration links on our home page. Friends, due to the threat of the corona virus, Mountain Chapel has suspended all in-person worship and programming. We are working to continue much of the church’s ministries via online platforms, such as Facebook, Realm and Zoom. Please see the church’s Facebook page for regular updates, worship and studies. Thank you for your prayers and patience.
